Go Monrovia and Citywide Bicycle Plan
GTC assisted the City of Monrovia in preparing and implementing the award-winning GoMonrovia program providing micro-mobility and shared-mobility options to all residents and visitors. GoMonrovia aims to fill a first/last-mile transportation gap by providing discounted fares on the Lyft platform to anywhere within City limits, with deeper discounts when traveling to/from the A (Gold) Line Station or Old Town business district. The program also included a dock-less bike-share system from Lime Bikes with traditional pedal-powered bikes as well as electric bikes.
GTC assisted the City in selecting vendors, identifying locations for designated bike parking hubs, and prepared a bike lane network to connect the A (Gold) Line Station to employment and shopping destinations around Monrovia. GoMonrovia was honored with a Local Government Excellence Community Partnership Award from the International City/County Management Association
As part of the preparation for GoMonrovia, GTC refined the entire citywide bicycle route and path system to provide a more balanced and implementable bicycle network to better connect residential areas to neighborhood schools and local businesses. GTC also helped the City evaluate the potential for adding in-pavement flashing lights to Old Town mid-block crosswalks to improve pedestrian safety.
